A chemical peel is an exfoliation technique designed to penetrate below the surface of the skin in order to regenerate skin on the face, neck or hands. Exfoliation occurs using a chemical that causes layers of skin to frost and eventually peel off. The skin that remains is smoother, softer and healthier. Many people choose to receive a chemical peel because of how quickly it can be performed as well as its ability to effectively reduce many skin conditions. Estheticians love to use enzymes because skin conditions usually begin with impaired enzyme activity within the skin structure. The benefits of using an enzyme during a facial has vast benefits. We typically use enzymes during an enzyme facial to increase the exfoliation process in order to treat a wide variety of skin conditions. For example, we treat acne, excessive keratinization, psoriasis or eczema to name a few skin conditions. A topical enzyme helps to break down old fibers in the skin to make way for new ones to be synthesized. If there is no enzymatic activity, then we would see a build up of dead cells and old fibers to the skin. Enzymes also help keep collagen and elastin in check! Dermaplaning is a procedure that exfoliates your skin and gets rid of dirt, debris and the vellus hair, better known as “peach fuzz.”. With dermaplaning, a scalpel or a tool called a dermatome is used to gently remove the top layer of the skin as well as the vellus hair. This treatment results in ultra-smooth, fresh, and brighter skin. By removing the dead skin layer and hair from the face, the skin texture is evened out. Dermaplaning treatments also help with cell metabolism, which helps new skin come to the surface. A noticeable improvement is immediate with softer texture, a fresher appearance and when makeup is applied, the skin looks and feels noticeably smoother. Facial hair returns softly and will not become coarser because of the treatment. Skincare products also penetrate the skin better following a dermaplaning treatment. What are skin irregularities? We all have insecurities about ourselves and our bodies. No matter if you are a woman or a man there is always that one skin irregularity that bothers us. Dermal filler injections are a non-surgical procedure that allows patients to come to our spa and receive youthful, fuller features in one short visit! Dermal fillers are an affordable option that are incredibly effective in attaining plumper lips, fuller cheeks, deep line correction and scar filling, without the need for cosmetic surgery. Skin Technology offers a variety of injectable fillers including Restylane®, Restylane Lyft®, Restylane Defyne®, Restylane Kysse® Revance RHA®, Radiesse®, and Kybella®. Restylane and Juvederm are hyaluronic acid products, ideal for soft tissue augmentation, while Radiesse is a calcium-based product often used for augmenting deeper wrinkles, cheeks and noses. Sculptra is a product all its own, made of poly-L-lactic acid, and gives patients a subtle result over time. This is typically done through a series of treatments spaced several months apart, providing results that last up to 25 months.
